Launching the EMR Module

The application is a web application and must be viewed in a browser. A parent application can launch the EMR Module in an embedded browser control, or it can launch it in an external browser window. In either case, any context necessary for the application to operate must be passed in on the URL query string.

As a minimum, a valid application key must be passed on the query string. The application key will be validated and a session created for subsequent interactions. The browser control must have cookies enabled for authentication and other functionality to function.

The basic URL to launch the application is this :

• /launch/index?hw.key=(valid application key)

Once launched, the application creates a session. The session will time-out after 60 minutes of inactivity

The above URL will redirect to a "/Search" URL. Do not link to "/Search" directly because this will bypass some necessary session management functions and may cause problems.

Both POST and GET HTTP methods are available and can be invoked with a standard HTML form(GET,POST) or anchor(GET). Note that some systems (browser or servers) have limitations on the total size of a URL for a GET request.
